Michi And Walter Weglyn Endowed Chair Of Multicultural Studies
Cal Poly Pomona announces a faculty recruitment for the Michi and Walter Weglyn Endowed Chair in Multicultural Studies and invites applications for a position to begin August 2006. This is a one year appointment with the possibility of renewal for one to two additional years. The holder of the Weglyn Chair will promote the interdisciplinary study of multiculturalism including gender, ethnicity, sexuality, race, and class. The Chair will establish a teaching, scholarship/creative activity, and community-based program in her or his area of expertise.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Terminal degree in area of specialization from an accredited institution of higher education or significant professional work in the field
Distinguished history of research, scholarly or creative activity, and professional achievement
Strong record of innovative teaching or educational involvement
Experience and demonstrated commitment to working in a multiethnic/multicultural environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of and commitment to interdisciplinary studies
Record of including students in community-based or other outreach programming
Experience developing university/community collaboration and connections
Experience organizing conferences or workshops, building programs, and working across communities
Experience with issues of equity and social justice
Position Requirements
Teaching 2-3 courses per year (no more than one per quarter)
Engaging in scholarship or creative activity in area of expertise
Establishing campus and/or community-based programming
Organizing conferences, workshops, or symposia
Salary and benefits are competitive at a senior professor level and are
commensurate with experience
