ABOUT CSU POMONA       UPCOMING EVENTS

The Department of Theatre and New Dance’ Mission is to educate all students in the disciplines of theatrical art and to encourage/illuminate the contributions of that art from an academic, professional and artistic perspective.

We are committed to a set of goals and ideals that guide our students, staff and faculty in the engagement within a collaborative process; intellectual and aesthetic understanding of the craft and technique of theatre arts; appreciation and respect of the various roles/aspects inherent within the theatrical process; exploration of theatre arts and its intersection with community, culture and society.

Cal Poly Pomona’s Department of Theatre and New Dance’ core curriculum, in tandem with our specialized options programs, prepares majors to participate as theatrical artists in a variety of careers, including: performance, design, technical, education and administration.  Through our General Education, as well as our Play Production courses, we are able to provide the general university student population opportunities, both academic and production oriented, that emphasize the polytechnic approach of “learning by doing.”   In addition, our productions and performances enhance the artistic and intellectual development of the university and immediate community by providing challenging and culturally programming.
