HOLLYWOOD — Forest Whitaker will again be honored Monday when he receives the 2,335th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one day before the DVD release of “The Last King of Scotland,” for which he won a best actor Oscar.
Kiefer Sutherland, Angela Bassett and Peter Rice, president of Fox Searchlight Pictures, which distributed the film, are scheduled to join Whitaker in speaking in a late-morning ceremony in front of the Kodak Theatre, the home of the Academy Awards.
In addition to the Oscar, Whitaker also received Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild best actor awards earlier this year for his portrayal of Ugandan dictator Idi Amin.

In what seemed like the blink of an eye to Pat Kimbrel, a 30-year teaching and coaching career dedicated to Oceanside unfolded.Kimbrel’s career, including the past 19 years as the Pirates’ athletic director, is winding down to a precious few days now.
Kimbrel, 57, will join his wife Glenda in retirement in about two weeks.
“I’m not counting days, but my wife is,” Kimbrel said, laughing. “She knows exactly how many days are left, probably how many hours.

Erik Espinoza has recently learned that upon graduation he will join the distinguished Coro Fellows Program, a nine-month leadership program that has trained the likes of Sen. Diane Feinstein and Virginia Governor Tim Kaine.
Coro Fellows represents a diverse cross-section of accomplished individuals from colleges and universities who intend to develop their civic leadership skills to serve the public arena.
The political science major competed for the fellowship program against a diverse pool of highly motivated and intelligent graduating seniors around the country.
“This will be a life changing experience,” said Espinoza’s adviser David Speak, a political science professor. “The Coro Fellowship is more than a networking opportunity. It has a year’s worth of training with contacts that will radically alter the opportunities available to him.”
