Call for Nominations – 2009 Distinguished Contributions to Teaching and Learning
Call for Nominations
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2009 CLASS Award for Distinguished Contributions to Teaching and Learning. The purpose of the award is to honor the activities of tenure and tenure track faculty in the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences (CLASS) that foster student learning and thus advance the mission of the college and university.
Nominations may be made by CLASS students, or faculty using the on-line submission form available below and must be received no later than Friday, May 22, 2009.
The CLASS Learning & Teaching Committee will coordinate the formation of the Selection Committee, consisting of one faculty member from the arts, humanities and social sciences, respectively and at least one student. Nominees will be asked to provide follow-up information. The committee will review and evaluate all nominations and provide a ranked list of the top three candidates with written justification to the Dean by June 5, 2009.
The recipient of this award will be will be presented during the 2009 Fall Conference and will include an honorarium.
Nomination Criteria & Evidence
A broad array of teaching and learning activities may be recognized and may involve all aspects of teaching and learning, including, but not limited to:
Classroom teaching
Curriculum development and course design
Use of technology in teaching and learning
Incorporation of service learning
Integration of research into the learning process
Scholarship of teaching
Leadership in the promotion of educational excellence.
Once the nomination is received, the nominee will be asked to provide:
A current curriculum vitae
A letter of support from the department chair
Copies of the summaries of student evaluation forms for all courses taught during the last academic year.
