Music Theatre Emphasis
The Music Theatre emphasis prepares students for working in the musical theatre and opera worlds. Students have opportunities to entertain audiences through solo and group performances in music theatre, large and small choral ensembles, and recitals. Recent productions have included "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying," "The Fantasticks" and "Songs for a New World", as well as one-act operas, scenes from various musicals and operas, and improvised musical scenes.

Students take courses in the Cal Poly Theater and Dance departments as part of the curriculum. They also take classes in Music Theory, Music History and Literature.

Our Music Theatre majors are fortunate to work with gifted masterclass clinicians from the ranks of talented and experienced directors, coaches, and teachers in the busy Southern California musical theatre industry.
