The Cal Poly Music Education Emphasis is our most successful program in terms of career placement. For many years, we have placed 100% of our graduates who have sought careers in music education.
The degree program provides the necessary coursework and performance opportunities to prepare the student for a teacher credential program. Students are presented with a broad based curriculum in both instrumental and vocal music education. They are given a variety of hands-on experiences such as Directed Field Experience in Music Education, Instrumental and Vocal Fundamental Classes and Conducting. In addition, all students participate in ethnic, jazz and traditional music classes and performing ensembles.
Cal Poly’s Music Education program is widely respected and has achieved state approval by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
