Music Department Tenure Track Faculty Position
The Music Department seeks an Assistant Professor in Music Media and Production

POSITION TITLE AND DESCRIPTION:

The Music Department invites applications for a fulltime tenure track Assistant Professor position in Music with primary responsibility for courses in Music Media and Production to begin in Fall 2007.

The successful candidate will teach music classes across the music industry studies curriculum including Music in Record, Radio, Film and Television, Advanced Music Theory, Computers and Music, MIDI Ensemble, Creative Projects, Senior Internships and multicultural General Education courses to a diverse student population. The successful candidate will build connections with the regional music industry. The position requires excellence in teaching and advising, professional and creative work, and service to the department, university, and the community.  The successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to the students and campus-wide initiatives such as learning centeredness, service learning, and obtaining external funding to support teaching and creative activities.

The finalists will be required to appear for interviews, teach appropriate classes and deliver a scholarly presentation in a specialized subject area.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  (Required and Preferred Education, Knowledge and Abilities, Experience) Preferred/Desired Qualifications: CLOSING DATE and HOW TO APPLY:  To be considered for the position, applicants are required to submit a letter that includes a statement of their teaching philosophy within a multicultural environment (please give examples), a completed application form, curriculum vitae, a transcript showing highest degree earned (from an accredited educational institution), and a minimum of three recent (within the past two years) letters of reference and two additional names, addresses, telephone numbers and email addresses  of references.  All completed packages postmarked by October 6, 2006 will receive first consideration. Materials submitted by the candidate will be available for examination by all tenured and probationary faculty of the department.
