Fees
The Motor Development Clinic is partially self-supportive, thus fees for
the services rendered have to be charged. A one time fee is charged for
the assessment battery which includes the administration and scoring of
the tests, a brief assessment summary, and an ITP. There is no charge
for the consultation with the parent, clinic director, and clinic coordinator.
The assessment fee is based on the number of assessments administered.
A fee for the therapy is also charged. This fee varies according to: 1)
grouping (individual or small group sessions) and 2) length of the quarter
therapy sessions.
Schedule and
Times
The Motor Development Clinic offers four therapy sessions each year which
follow the university?s quarter system. For the fall, winter, and spring
quarters the clinic operates for eight weeks, meeting once or twice a
week, for 50 minutes each session. The clinic opens in early afternoon
with the first session usually beginning at 2 p.m. and subsequent sessions
throughout the afternoon.
For the summer quarter the clinic operates
within a more condensed schedule. Clients attend for longer periods each
day, but for fewer weeks. The groups are larger than the school-year program
and all clients participate in the same basic activities. The specific
schedule for summer up due to the tight scheduling of the clinic hours.
This includes illness, vacations, etc.
Sessions
Two kinds of therapy instructions are offered to the clients during the
school year; group or individual sessions. Groups of two or three are
assigned according to their ages and abilities, with individual sessions
being offered only when appropriate. After the Individual Therapy Program
(ITP) consultation meeting involving the parent, clinic director, and
clinic coordinator, clients are placed according to the need.
The specific activities for each therapy
session are arranged by the clinician with approval from the clinic coordinator.
The tasks presented to the client are sequenced, leading to the accomplishment
of the ITP goals and objectives. At the conclusion of each school quarter,
a reevaluation of goals and objectives occurs. This information is shared
with the parent in a quarter evaluation report.
