The English & Foreign Languages Department at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Spanish Linguistics or Spanish Applied Linguistics to begin Fall 2009. 

The Position: Ideal candidates will be well qualified to teach undergraduate classes in Spanish morphology, syntax, phonology, and historical and applied linguistics.  The position will also require teaching elementary, intermediate and advanced Spanish courses for both Spanish heritage and multilingual speakers.    We seek candidates interested in undergraduate teaching in a diverse, student-centered academic environment, and dedicated to developing a teaching credential program. The position requires excellence in teaching and advising, professional and scholarly achievements, and service to the university.   Faculty generally teach three courses per quarter. After initial interviews, finalists will be invited to campus to offer a scholarly presentation to the department and to conduct a teaching demonstration. The EFL Department offers the major and minor in Spanish and English, the M.A. in English, and the minor in French.  Applicants whose work incorporates a global perspective and a demonstrated commitment to diversity in higher education are particularly encouraged to apply.
