Part-Time/Temporary Lecturers
The Political Science Department at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) invites lecturers to become members of our part-time temporary lecturers pool. Specializations in American Government, Politics, Political Sociology, but periodically courses in Comparative Politics, International Relations, Political Philosophy, Public Administration, Public Law, and Research Methods are especially welcomed.
Minimum Qualifications:
For political science courses, ABD in Political Science or subfield thereof required by date of application; for the course in political sociology, ABD in Political Science, Sociology, or a subfield of either required by date of application; for positions teaching public law courses, a J.D. and appropriate experience may be considered; for public administration area, ABD in a doctoral program with a PA emphasis and/or MPA (by date of application) or other master’s level degree directly related to the subject being taught and experience in government or nonprofit organizations required. For all courses, teaching experience with evidence (from letter of recommendation, teaching evaluations, etc.) of teaching excellence preferred.
Appointments:
Part-time, temporary lecturer appointments are usually made for one academic quarter (approximately 11 weeks) at fractions usually ranging from 4/15 to 12/15 of full-time; multiple quarter appointments are possible. Incumbents may be reappointed to subsequent quarters contingent upon funding and favorable performance evaluations.
