The Dean of the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences is Dr. Barbara J. Way. Dean Way earned her Ph.D. in political science from the University of California, Riverside. Her academic interests include American and state politics, public policy, gender and politics, and public administration with a major emphasis on energy conservation policy. Dr. Way is an established authority on public policy and her work in this area includes an edited book, chapters in textbooks, and numerous articles. She was the recipient of the award for Outstanding Public Administration Educator from the American Society for Public Administration in 1993. Dr. Way was the founder and president of the Urban Politics and Policy Section of the American Political Science Association and was instrumental in establishing the Cal Poly Pomona Downtown Center. During her tenure as Dean, she has been a tireless champion of community involvement and of a polytechnic education grounded firmly in the liberal arts.
