Dale Turner is the Associate Dean for Academic Programs and a member of the Department of Philosophy in the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences. Dr. Turner received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from California State University, and his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of California, Riverside. His primary areas of scholarship include argumentation and fallacy theory, the nature of deep disagreement, the role of argument in public reason, and philosophical issues in education. Dr. Turner’s work in these areas includes numerous conference presentations, journal articles, and co-editing special issues of the journals Argumentation and Informal Logic. He has long-standing teaching interests in critical thinking, epistemology, philosophy of education, philosophy of mind, philosophy of science, and the philosophy of childhood.

Sharon Hilles is the Associate Dean for Academic Personnel and Resources, and is a Professor in the Department of English and Foreign Languages. Dr. Hilles received her Bachelor’s degree in German from the University of California Los Angeles. Her MA in TESL and her Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics are from UCLA as well. Her primary areas of research include the history of English, English grammar, TESL, and English usage. She is also interested in first and second language acquisition and teaching English as a second language to adults. Dr. Hilles’ work in these areas has been presented at numerous professional conferences, in journal articles, in book chapters, in workshops, and in several books. She has also served as grammar consultant for a number of publications.
