Master of Science in Economics Curriculum

Depending on the student's choice of capstone experience, the degree requires a minimum of 10 to 11 courses. For the capstone, students have to take a battery of four comprehensive exams and optional to write a thesis. The degree requires a total of 45 units. For successful completion of the comprehensive exams students are awarded one unit of credit, which means the student will need to take 11 additional courses to complete the degree. For successful completion of a thesis, the student is awarded five units, which means tha t 10 additional courses are required. Every student is required to take four “core” courses, two field specialization courses from their degree option, and 4 or 5 “elective” courses, which can be chosen by the student to suit her/his interest. However, even the “elective” courses must be chosen according to the rule of the program.
