Who: |
International fabric artist Thelma Smith is profoundly involved in the world of textiles, quilting and fabrics. Her home base is in Green Valley, Arizona and she exhibits prolifically around the United States and the world. Smith’s articles are published in textile journals and reviews. |
What: |
Thelma Smith honed her fabric crafts across the years; this body of work, Left Hand Turn Lane, was seven years in the making. What started as a personal journey in searching for her homeless son, became an odyssey and resulted in twenty-two works which feature portraits of the homeless. Ten pieces of the twenty-two will be exhibited at the DTC Gallery. This exhibit is in conjunction with National Project Connect, Pitzer College and Pomona Housing Services in hopes of raising awareness to the issues surrounding homelessness. |
