Who: |
Pomona born and bread artist Marco Zamora fills the DTC Gallery with his colorful and pensive work. Zamora is a graduate of Cal Arts and is a Vans featured artist. By day he designs graphics- by night he paints. He exhibits prolifically in Pomona and Los Angeles County. |
What: |
Candy Coated Day Dreams is Zamora’s first solo exhibit. The work includes his paintings, but also a mural painted by Zamora specially designed for the space. Marco develops imagery about urban landscape and the people that inhabit it. Producing a richly complex and experimental image, Marco goes into a neighborhood and shoots a spot, re-contextualizing and collaging figures to create each paintings identity. Masks play an important role in creating artwork. The mask represents Lucha Libre (Mexican Wrestling) as well as the many different faces, thoughts, and personas that people wear. |
