Chicana artist and activist Victoria Delgadillo exhibits her work in a solo show. Delgadillo is a graduate of the University of San Diego and has lived in Los Angeles since 1976. Her work connects and relates to feminist and women’s themes. Delgadillo is best known for her consciousness-raising efforts around the murders taking place in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. She is a founding member of the Mexican Spitfires art movement. |

The Downtown Center focuses this month on Dia de los Muertos with the introspective work of Victoria Delgadillo. The sophisticated yet whimsical exhibit Soignée, features Delgadillo’s watercolor, mixed media and film pieces. The topics of the work vary, from pensive self-portraits to pieces dealing with body image issues and even food fetishes. Delgadillo’s work is infused with colors and issues that may be categorized as Chicana by some, but are universal and inclusive in scope and attitude. Delgadillo conducts a Paper Fashion workshop on October 21st, just in time for Halloween and Dia de los Muertos!. |
