Academy for Literacy Through the Arts

Arts education promotes learning, creativity, skills, and knowledge of the visual and performing arts, learning that is valuable in itself. Through the arts, students can explore socio-political ideas, develop understanding of other cultures, and develop positive social behaviors such as empathy and attitudes against prejudice and racism.

Ahimsa Center

Ahimsa is nonviolence rooted in courage and compassion, fearlessness and forgiveness. It connotes reverence for all life. It evokes civility and trust, and promotes lasting peace in society.

Center for the Study of the Inland Empire

The Center for the Study of the Inland Empire (CSIE) represents the Cal Poly Pomona faculty fellows, its members, and residents of the Inland Empire. It is a method by which this partnership can help better understand the trends and issues of this fast growing region and help shape the future of the Inland Empire.

Colorful Flags

The Colorful Flags Program breaks down ethnic mistrust by teaching specific cultural facts and five basic human relations statements in the five most spoken languages in a school community or organizational community (excluding English).

Downtown Center

The Cal Poly Pomona Downtown Center is an inviting place where the University and the community work together to promote the unique cultural heritage of Pomona. We respond directly to the needs of the community as articulated by our community partners and advisors.


Ennis W. Cosby Friendmobile

The Ennis W. Cosby Friendmobile provides free on-site testing for emotional and behavioral problems, learning disabilities and developmental delays for economically disadvantaged children, aged 3-18 in Los Angeles County.

Weglyn Endowment

Michi And Walter Weglyn Endowed Chair Of Multicultural Studies

The Endowed Chair of Multicultural Studies was established at the beginning of the 1993 Academic year. Its foundation remains a credit to Michi and Walter Weglyn who recognized the strength of a new discipline spanning diverse study areas and the ability of administrators and faculty members on this campus to contribute positively and cooperatively to its development locally, regionally, nationally, and globally.

Motor Development Clinic

The purpose of the Motor Development Clinic is to: 1) develop and improve motor skills; 2) increase movement behavior (cooperation, attention, participation, teamwork); and 3) provide movement experiences that are fun.


Pomona Big Read

The Big Read, initiated by the NEA as well as the Institute of Museum and Library Services and Arts Midwest, gives communities the opportunity to come together to read, discuss, and celebrate one of 23 selections from American and world literature.

Service Learning

Rooted in constructivism and experiential educational activities, service learning is a powerful teaching strategy that has the potential to enhance students’ learning of academic content

Southern California Shakespeare Festival

The mission of the Southern California Shakespeare Festival, SCSF is to establish a classical, professional repertory Theatre Company, dedicated to nurturing artists, student-artists and enriching the diverse community of the Inland Empire.
