"Colorful Facts"
The first Yugoslavia was created in 1918 as the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (1929 name changed - Kingdom of Yugoslavia). The 2nd Yugoslavia was created during WWII. In 1992, after four of the six republics - Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzagovina and Macedonia had declared their independence, the remaining two republics - Serbia and Montenegro proclaimed the new Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
Location: Southern Europe, the Balkans.
Capital: Belgrade
Offical Language: Croatian/Serbian
Geography: To the south, Adriatic Sea; to the north, Panonian Valley with fertile farmland-Central is mountains and hills.
Population: Estimated in 2006 - Croatia: 4,494,749, Serbia: 9,396,411
