Italy is well known for its art and artists such as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Donatello, and Raphael. Italy is also well known for its literature, music, and passion for sports. The ancient Colosseum in Rome hosted gladiator competitions.

Ribbon-shaped pasta is more popular in the north while macaroni with tomato sauce is more popular in the south. Pizza and Risotto are also popular. Deserts include gelato, tiramisu, and rum cake.
