Other Eligibility Requirements:
Students must write a letter of application to the Dean of CLASS, c/o the Director of Development.; it should include an essay on the topic of experience as a volunteer or other experiences that have contributed to a career in the public or not-for-profit sector.  Topic of essay:  analysis of skills and knowledge acquired thru past experiences.

Chief Kimberly Plater Endowment Scholarship

Are you a full-time student in the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences?
Do you have a GPA of 2.5 or higher?

Then…you are eligible to apply for a $500 scholarship!

Kimberly A. Plater was the Cal Poly Pomona Police Chief from 1990-2003. She believes in, and practices community involvement by her contributions to numerous community agencies. This endowed scholarship was set up upon her retirement to honor the efforts of those students in CLASS who go beyond the classroom, into the campus and community.

Complete a scholarship application form for the Chief Kimberly A. Plater Scholarship available in Financial Aid, the C.L.A.S.S. Dean’s Office, or University Police Department.

Applications must be submitted to Ms. Debbi McFall, University Police

by Friday, November 18th, 2011 at 5 p.m.

Qualifications:

  • Sophomore, Junior, or Senior with overall GPA 3.0

 

Requirements:

  • Must commit to 8-10 hours per week in Winter Quarter.
  • This is a 4-unit course and will meet Mon. Wed. and every other Friday 9am-12.
  • Obtain a letter of recommendation from a Cal Poly Professor
  • Interview with Internship Selection Committee
