Thank you for your interest in supporting the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences (CLASS).
A major priority of CLASS is providing access to education, we do this is two different ways. First is by offering scholarships to students enrolled in one of our twelve majors: Communications, Economics, English and Foreign Languages, Geography and Anthropology, History, Kinesiology and Health Promotion, Music, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology, Theater, and the Institute of New Dance and Cultures. In addition to departmental scholarships unique opportunities are provided through the Dean’s office, examples include the prestigious Dean Scholarship and the Boeing Scholars program.
The second way that CLASS makes an impact on access to higher education through its many outreach initiatives in the Pomona Valley. The Cal Poly Pomona Downtown Center is located in the heart of down town Pomona and provides a wealth of outreach activities including:
The Academy for Literacy through the Arts
Fifty students ages seven through fifteen are exposed to arts and cultural activities that help improve literacy during four weeks of summer.

L.A. Opera Musical Voice Presentation
Over 700 youth from the surrounding elementary schools experience their first operatic performance at Cal Poly Pomona. This enables the students to experience an afternoon on a college campus as well as expand their exposure to the arts.
Peer Theater
Sixty high school students work collaboratively with CPP college students and theatre professor Bernardo Solano to write, produce and perform their own plays that address real world issues that have framed their lives.
All of the programs in the college are made possible through the generous support of alumni, community friends, foundations and corporations.
